Painting with ice cubes

My friend Shelly gave me this fun idea about a year ago (or longer?), but we didn't try it until this week. It's perfect for those hot summer days!

Fill up an ice cube tray with water, then let the kiddos add food coloring to each cube.




After the cubes are frozen, take them outside and "paint" with them. Oliver and Buttercup had so much fun!



The colors didn't show up too well at first, but after they were dry we could see the designs that the kids made:



Painting is messy work!



This was a lot of fun, and a good activity when it's still over 100 degrees at 7:00 pm!
