We have a lot of driving ahead of us for this weekend! So many fun and exciting things are happening this weekend, too. We've decided to let Buttercup stay home with Aunt Anna since she doesn't do well in the car. So this will be just a road trip for Oliver, Dennis, and me! I am so excited about getting so much one-on-one time with my sweet little boy! Since Oliver loves sharks and fish so much, we're taking him to the Aquarium of the Americas tomorrow. He has been talking about it for weeks and he is SO excited! I can't wait to see his face when he sees the huge tanks and all of the sea creatures . . . it's going to be like Christmas morning for him.
Then Sunday is the Mardi Gras Marathon, which I'm signed up to run. I had big plans of training hard and running a fast first marathon, but God has been good about teaching me a few things about myself and I've really grown in the Lord over the past couple of months. So now I'm just thankful to be able to run without pain and I'm looking forward to running a race on Sunday! I still haven't decided if I'm running the full marathon or the half -- I'm just waiting to see how my legs feel the morning of the race. I'm a little leery of running 26.2 miles on 20 miles per week with a recent long run of only 16 miles, but we'll see what God has planned for me!
I'm going to miss my baby girl so much this weekend, but I know she'll have a blast with her aunt Anna! She's going to love the one-on-one time with her. :-) We're so fortunate to have Anna in our lives! We love you!

Even More Oliver-isms
One day, the mail man is going to say, "Oliver! Heeeeeeeeeeere's your mail!" He'll say it really loud, so I can hear him even if I'm busy crunching my broccoli.
Mama, where's your tutu? (I told him that most grown ups don't have tutus.) Well, what about that big white tutu over there? [pointing to a picture of me in my wedding gown] Was that when you were a pretty, pretty princess?
One day, when Buttercup gets lost in the woods, I'm going to get my flashlight and shine it up at the trees, and then I'll get my binoculars and look for her.
When I earn my last reward bead, I want to buy a . . . big whale shark cake! And I'll cut out the teeth with my knife, and then I'll eat it all up in my tum tum!
What did Jonah do to Miss Goliath?
I don't know where Buttercup's mail keys are. She must have left them in the woods.
Do caterpillars wake up at night time? You know, before they turn into butterflies?
Danger tape is the best tape in the world.
On Sunday, in my class, I learned about the 5 loaves of bread and the 2 loaves of fish!
After I cook up all these snakes, I'll hold Buttercup's hand so she won't get lost in the woods again.
Mama, when you're not looking, I'm going to run a home run and go all the way back to IKEA to get that polar bear.
When am I going to get to be a whale? When I'm a grown up?

SNOW!
Yay, it finally snowed here again! And we were at home to enjoy it, and it stuck! It probably snowed 3 inches, and it's already melting, but we had so much fun. Well, Oliver and I had fun -- Buttercup didn't really care for it too much. It's funny that we don't have the right kind of clothing for playing in snow, so the kids and I were wearing multiple layers of clothes. Buttercup was wearing so many clothes that she had trouble sitting down and standing up!
I took this picture right when Oliver flung a handful of snow at my face. What a stinker!

We went out 3 times this morning. Buttercup only lasted about 15 minutes before she was ready to go in, so I let Oliver play in the back yard while Buttercup and I played in the sun room. Then Oliver got too cold, so he came in and worked on the playhouse roof for a little bit.

Look at this sweet baby girl!

We ate lunch early and then headed back outside to play before naptime. Hopefully there will still be some snow to play in this afternoon!

Super Heroes!
This weekend was Oliver's BFF's 4th birthday party. Jaxon is really into super heroes right now, so his mom came up with a really cute super hero theme for the party! The party guests had to "save" the birthday cake from the Tickle Monster, and every time the kids completed a task (like spraying him with silly string, or collecting "kryptonite" (rocks painted with green glitter glue), they earned super hero equipment! Oliver and Buttercup both earned super hero medals, capes, and masks. Oliver wore his super hero stuff most of the day Sunday and yesterday, and he asked me to put Buttercup's cape on her when he wore his.
Nothing much cuter than this. :-)

It's Super Oliver!

As a side note, check out how short Oliver's pants are -- hard to believe they were too long for him in December! Holy growth spurt, Batman!

Hiking at Barton Creek
Saturday morning, Anna invited us to go hiking with her at Barton Creek. It was drizzling and the trail was wet, so we didn't actually get to do too much real hiking. But the kids had fun walking in the mud and throwing rocks in the creek!
If you look closely, you can see the rock flying through the air:

Even the big kids threw some rocks.

Buttercup's cute 'do!

Oliver "fished" for a little while. He caught a couple of whale sharks, a great white, and a barracuda.

After a while, Dennis and Oliver went exploring on their own.

Here's a video of the Toot throwing some rocks!

Buttercup Cuteness
This week, Buttercup has been just the cutest baby girl ever. Well, she's always been the cutest baby girl ever, but she's just been exceptionally cute this week. :-) She's currently getting her bottom molars (ouch!) but she's been in a relatively great mood and has been so happy. She seems to be less mature than Oliver was at this age, but she's just learning things on her own schedule! I love watching her blossom into a smart, funny little girl.
This week she came up with a new game for the two of us to play. She takes off walking as fast as she can down the driveway, takes a sharp right turn onto the sidewalk, and I shuffle my feet behind her to chase her. She giggles nonstop and I'll catch her and tickle her . . . it's just so much fun!
Her vocabulary is really taking off, too. I think she's picked up 20 new words this week alone. Of course, Oliver's name is still her favorite word.
More proof that I can dress my daughter in a matching outfit! Isn't she adorable?

In this picture, I was sitting at the end of the driveway, and Buttercup was coasting (in the Cozy Coupe) down the driveway until she crashed into me. Over and over and over again. BONK!! :-)

This week I also noticed how big Buttercup's belly is getting -- it hangs over the waistband of her pants when she sits down! You can kind of see it in the picture below. Must be all of the blueberries and cheese. :-)

Buttercup loves her Aunt Anna!

And last, but not least, here's a cute video of Buttercup growling. :-)

Oliver Flashback
It seems like just yesterday that Oliver was a baby. I can't believe it's already been almost 3 1/2 years! He's just growing up so fast.
This morning the kids and I were playing in his room, and Oliver came across a picture of himself when he was 9 months old. He just loved looking at the picture, so during his nap this afternoon, I went through my picture CDs and found several for him to look at after he wakes up. Here are a few for you to enjoy, too!
He was 4 days old in this picture. Hard to believe that he was ever this small!!

One of my very favorite pictures. :-) He was 1 week old.

The beginning of Oliver The Chunk, aka Piglet. 3 months old!

Almost 6 months old! Starting to think about getting mobile, but he didn't crawl (or sit up unassisted) until he was 8 months old.

8 months old!

Best buddies! Oliver was 10.5 months old, Jaxon was 19 months old.

Almost 1 year old!

Stay tuned for a Buttercup flashback . . .

Oliver-isms
Here are some funny things that Oliver said today.
Hey Mama, what would you like to order? How about some tasty whale shark nuggets?
(At the park, while playing with rocks.) I'm just collecting coffee beans for the butterflies. You know, they live at my coffee bean paltation.
Buttercuppie, maybe when you're 15 months tall like me, you can climb this high mountain.
(After his nap.) Mama, the 2 [on his clock] came real fast today! I saw the 12, I closed my eyes, and then I saw the 2 and said, 'Oh man, it's time to get up!'
Mama, I just love you. (I asked him if he also loves his baby sister.) Hmm, yeah, I do. I love her. I like to play with it. I just don't like her touching me with her hands all the time.
Mama, I just don't want you to be a bear. I just want you to be a people.
Now that I jackhammered all the barracudas in Buttercup's room, it's time to go back in the tent! (I asked him if there are barracudas in his room) No, just great whites.

Happy Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day! This was the first year that we really celebrated Valentine's Day with the kids. I had grand dreams of waking up early to decorate and make heart-shaped pancakes for the kids' breakfast, but Oliver was up all night coughing and I slept in as much as I could, so that idea went out of the window. :-)
I did manage to set out their treats and new heart plates before they got up. Oliver was very excited to get candy.

Buttercup was more interested in her new plate.

After breakfast, we all sat down to make valentines for each other. Oliver, however, only made one for himself, ha ha.

While he finishedsmearing glue everywhere decorating his valentine, Buttercup helped me make cupcakes in the kitchen.

Dennis dressed Buttercup in her ballerina outfit, and when Oliver saw her, he said, "Oh! She's a pretty, pretty princess! May I walk down the hall with the pretty, pretty princess?" And they walked down the hall together, into the kitchen, around the kitchen island a couple of times, and back into the living room. It was just too cute. :-)

After naptime, it was time for the fun stuff -- DECORATING CUPCAKES! Oliver could barely contain his excitement. Poor kid, I made him wait until Aunt Anna came over, and she was barely in the door before he started asking her to sit down and decorate cupcakes. :-)

Buttercup preferred to decorate herself. :-)

After our cupcake-decorating, Oliver helpfullymade a huge mess washed his dishes.

And Buttercup had fun playing dress-up!

It was too cold and windy to play outside, but we ("we" meaning "Oliver") were all about to go crazy from being cooped up inside for 5 days, so we went to (where else?) IKEA.

This picture just cracks me up. I love my kids! Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! :-)
