Ever since I told him that we were going to fly to Grammy and Granddaddy's house in May, Oliver has been asking every day if it's "time to fly in the sky." Well, today was the big day! I told Oliver yesterday that I was going to wake him up early this morning, when there was a 5 on his clock, instead of a 7. I was sound asleep at 12:20am, when Oliver hollered from his room, "Mama! I see a 5!" No, baby, that's a 2. :-)He was sound asleep when I woke him up at 5:15 this morning, but he was SO excited when he realized what was going on! We got the kids dressed quickly, they said goodbye to Wendy -- in the picture below, you can see how excited Oliver was! -- and we were on our way to the airport.
The entire trip was pretty great. Our first flight was short and uneventful. And after we found our connecting flight, we had enough time to stop and watch the airplanes before boarding.

Our second flight and the car ride to Grammy and Granddaddy's house were also short and mostly uneventful. I'm thankful to have such happy little travelers, and thankful for a safe journey!
Since we're leaving tomorrow for a 2 week visit with Grammy and Granddaddy, Oliver and I decided to do our alphabet craft this morning. Oliver loves doing these crafts, and he's started asking about them during the week, "What's our next alphabet lesson, Mama? Can we do O is for Oliver next? How about H is for hammer?" and so on. He is so cute! So this morning we did S is for sting ray!

It turns out that Ss are pretty difficult to write. I wrote the first one, then he had some serious trouble getting started on his own, so I held his hand and helped him write one (the green S on the left). Then he tried it on his own, and I think he did a pretty good job!!

It took him about 5 seconds to write it, which is a pretty long time when you're 3 years old. So he only wrote one S. After that, he chose to make "fancy Ss" all over the board. :-)

Then we got started with the craft. Buttercup even used her scissors this time!

Our sting ray looked a little plain, so we decided to spruce her up with some glitter glue. "Hey Mama! I'm painting the ocean floor!"

Ta da! She's a fancy sting ray. All she needs is a top hat. :-)
