Hand puppets and more baby pictures

Oliver wanted to "make something" with the items in our recycling bin the other day, so he made this boat (which he aptly named The Titanic):

Buttercup made a boat, too . . . (or rather, she colored on a cardboard tube and then cut it up into tiny pieces):

And I made these puppets. Buttercup was calling them finger puppets, until Oliver pointed out, "Those won't fit on our fingers, unless we're gigantic brachiosauruses!" So we decided that they are hand puppets. :-)

I can't wait until Theodore is old enough to "make stuff" with us, too! In the meantime, we are enjoying him just as he is. He is 10 weeks old today!

Random thoughts, July edition

-- In some ways, going from 2 kids to 3 kids is a lot easier than going from 1 kid to 2 kids. We've all had to make adjustments of course, but what helps is that this time around Oliver and Buttercup have each other for company/distractions while I'm busy with the baby.
-- I'm soooo thankful for my hubby, sister, and mom for their constant support and help. You guys are the BEST!
-- I'm so glad that the older kids have the opportunity to have a day to themselves with my mom or sister.
-- It's weird that our cat is now on antidepressants.
-- I am so proud of Buttercup for doing so well in her big girl bed! She really is a big girl now. Of course, as I'm typing this she's calling to me (loudly) from her bed, but the point is that she's IN her bed. ;-)

Two month checkup

Theodore had this two month checkup this morning. He passed all of the two month milestones -- smiling in response to a face, tracking someone with his eyes, extending his fingers, cooing, etc. He also passed a four month milestone -- he rolled over onto his side when the pediatrician put him on his tummy! :-D

There was much debate between Dennis, Anna, Grammy, and me about how big he was going to be. Both Anna and Dennis thought he would be bigger than Oliver was at two months (15 lbs and 25" long), but surprise, surprise, Theodore weighed in 14 lbs 3 oz and was a mere 24" long. He might be smaller, but he's still a chunk!

Here's a picture of him cooing at the spiders on his bouncy chair. :-)

Two months

Wow. Theodore is 2 months old today! Time really is flying by. So much has changed in the past month -- he's starting to interact with us more by cooing and smiling, and it's just so much fun and SO adorable. Thankfully, he hasn't been really colicky (other than being fussy around 5-7pm), but we're already seeing an end to it.

He's continuing to grow like a roly poly weed, and is about to outgrow his size 6 month onesies!

He sleeps swaddled in a Woombie now, which is pretty fool-proof (even for me).

His favorite things include the ceiling fans, the skylight in the living room, and being outside. :-) He also actually likes his car seat now, which is such a blessing. No more screaming at every car ride, and most of the time he even falls asleep in it without crying!

He
's also much more alert now, and he's turning into a pretty laidback little guy just like his big brother (and we're all breathing a sigh of relief on that one, ha ha). He likes to recline in his bouncy seat or lay on his blanket on the rug and watch Oliver and Buttercup play nearby, so I'm able to get some house stuff done while he's awake.

I love this picture because he looks so serious, ha ha!

This is another of my favorites:

This picture is blurry, but I love his cute eyebrow wrinkles. :-)

You Capture: Little Cute Babies

This week's You Capture is pretty easy for me, since we have a little, cute baby right in our house. :-)

Here's our little roly poly 8 week old baby boy. He's so alert now!

Nom, nom, tasty fingers!

Impromptu family portrait

In April or May of last year, our Sunday school teacher asked me to bring a family picture to our class to put on the wall with the rest of the class' family pictures. The problem was, we didn't have a recent family picture! The most recent snapshot of the 4 of us was from Christmas 2009:

I kept meaning to take a more updated photo of the 4 of us, but I never got around to it. Then I was pregnant with Theodore and wanted to wait until he was born before we took another family picture. So finally, over a year later, I remembered about it one day when Anna was at our house, and she was able to take some pictures for us. Here they are! (Now I just need to remember to get the pictures printed so I can bring them to our class, ha ha.)
